Seminar cum workshop for Teachers of the Brindavan Public Schools held at Kodaikanal

On April 25 and 26, 2009 a seminar cum workshop was conducted for the teachers of the Brindavan Public Schools on the topic “enhancement of students’ Learning and Retention” at Kodaikanal. The Seminar was attended by all the Teachers from the Brindavan Public schools namely Coonoor, Athur, Kodikanal and Chengalpattu.

Prof. Dr.Vadveul, who has over 40 years of experience in teaching the English language including teaching in Cambridge and other prestigious universities in various countries in Europe and America, was the first speaker. Dr.Vadivelu has authored English Text Books for the Tamil Nadu Text Book society. He has also authored a number of books on English Language teaching. He spoke on “How English could be taught effectively at the school level”. He demonstrated how learning prose or poetry could be made simpler and interesting to students.

Group Captain Mr.Muralidharan, who has rich teaching experience, teaching at the National Defence Academy, Khadakvasala, spoke on “Effective Teaching Methods”. He was followed by Mrs.Padma Shenai who chose the topic of “Matching Teaching style with learning”.

The last speaker was Mrs.Harini Anup who dwelt on “Class room management”.

The aim of the workshop was achieved through the lectures / demonstration as stated above which were presented with a great deal of imagination and depth of knowledge.
