SOCIAL WORK

Students over the age of 10 participate in Socially Useful Productive Work (SUPW). SUPW aims to equip students with varied skills which include carpentry, crafts, first-aid, gardening, cooking and practical activities like changing a tyre, fixing a bulb, sewing a button or cooking a tasty dish. All this enables them to be capable and self-sufficient. SUPW classes are led by professionals and are meant to spark and develop students’ lateral thinking abilities.

SUPW also encompasses social service to the local communities. The students visit orphanages and old age homes and spend quality time with their residents. The Kodaikanal and Coonoor students maintain the school organic vegetable gardens and play a significant role in keeping their pristine towns clean – raising awareness around plastic usage and recycling. Such exposure helps build the character of the children and moulds them into socially conscious citizens from an early age.
