My Time at Brindavan

For many of us, school life isn't just a phase — it's a part of who we are, one we carry with us long after we leave. That's certainly true for me. I want to remember it all: the breakfasts we shared, the lunches we swapped, the laughter, and the lessons. I'm grateful for every opportunity I was given, and for every new skill I discovered along the way.

I thank God I stayed at the same school throughout, because what I gained here was never just academic - it was an experience that shaped me.

Experiences

We have been fortunate to host some wonderful chief guests over the years, and our clubs offer no shortage of ways to explore new interests — Relish, Needle and Crafts, Social Service, Gardening, TED-ED, and Scouts and Guides, to name just a few. One experience I will always treasure is the time I got to edit a newspaper page. I visited the editorial office of The Times of India in Chennai to help put together a page dedicated to our school, and speaking about it still fills me with pride.

Experience, I have learned, is one of life's truest guides, and at Brindavan we have it in abundance.

Success speaks louder than words, and behind every success are opportunities and the people willing to seize them. Among my classmates alone, we have proficient speakers of English, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu and German, and more — and that's before looking beyond our classroom to the rest of the campus. We also have national-level Kho-Kho players, R. Santhosh and K. Loganethran, and no shortage of musicians and singers either; their music is really the only “Spotify” we need in class. Madhavan, Loganethran and Swetha make up our own class band, and all it takes is a free period and a playlist for the room to feel like something out of a movie.

Fun and Memories

Of course, hard work deserves its rewards, and we have had plenty of fun to go with it — culturals, food fests, class games, and PT periods we always looked forward to. One of my friends had long dreamed of speaking on the mic and addressing hundreds of students from the stage, and watching him finally do it was a moment of shared happiness for all of us. Fitting in was not always easy for me — it took a struggle that lasted until about two years ago — but today, you will find me right in the middle of the fun with my friends. I especially remember Founder's Day, when we danced, sang and played together; it remains one of the most wonderful cultural celebrations I have been part of.

Even inside the classroom, we have found our own ways to play, usually as a reward for finishing our work on time. Raja Rani, One Fish, Train, Hand Cricket and Artillery (Birangi) have all made an appearance at some point. But all this fun comes alongside real work: board exams are no small matter, and whenever we run into doubts, our teachers are there to help us work through them. What they have taught us is not just how to answer questions, but how to face them — and that applies just as much to real-life challenges as it does to a chemistry equation.

Lessons Beyond Textbooks

Over my years at Brindavan Public School, I have learned that friendship knows no boundaries — that it is built on respect, honesty and care. I learned this from my teachers, and it is why I now understand why they have always been so warm towards us. As I bring this reflection to a close, I want to say how grateful I am to the teachers who have supported and cared for me throughout this journey. Thank you, Brindavan Public School, for once again nurturing a good citizen.

Reflection on Opportunities

One of my juniors once said something that stayed with me. He told me, “Our school gives us so many opportunities, but sometimes we don't grab them at the right time. It's only later that we realise we're late — if I had made use of certain chances earlier, I know I could have done much better.” I still believe it is never too late to start, because every opportunity our school offers shapes us in some way.

I have also seen our seniors, now shining brighter than their college classmates.

They have told us it is because of the strong foundation this school gave them, and that inspires me deeply. So my message is simple: never let the opportunities here pass you by, because they truly have the power to shape your future.

Closing Note

Opportunities, dreams and happiness — I owe all of these to the support of my teachers, my friends, and of course, my parents. I am grateful to myself, too, for choosing Brindavan Public School. I have gained countless experiences, many first times, and even more friendships. Perhaps that is why people treasure their school days the way I treasure mine. Thank you.
